Our Mission

Colorado Tick-Borne Disease Awareness Association (COTBDAA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in August 2016 with the mission to elevate awareness of Lyme and other tick-borne diseases/conditions for Coloradans through education, prevention, research and advocacy, including patient support.

     AWARENESS

Provide Coloradans increased access to accurate and updated information about the risks, prevention, diagnosis and treatment of tick-borne diseases.

EDUCATION

Educate Coloradans and Colorado’s children about how to prevent Lyme and other tick-borne diseases and increase awareness of the wide-ranging symptoms of tick-borne illnesses.

PREVENTION

Develop and distribute educational materials and provide programs relevant to Coloradans regarding risk, safety and prevention of tick-borne diseases.

RESEARCH

Through the power of Citizen Science, collect data and assist with research efforts to broaden our knowledge of ticks and the pathogens they may be carrying in Colorado. Support ongoing efforts of other organizations in pursuit of tick and disease surveillance, patient care, disease prevention, testing, treatment and cure.

ADVOCACY

Facilitate dialogue and collaboration between patients, medical providers, insurance companies, policy makers, the Colorado Department of Health, County Public Health Departments, and other stakeholders with the goal of creating an environment where all Coloradans can access accurate information and timely, effective, evidence-based care for Lyme and other tick-borne diseases. Encourage Colorado medical providers to gain knowledge and expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of Lyme and other tick-borne diseases. Provide dependable support and resources for those affected by Lyme and other tick-borne diseases.

PATIENT SUPPORT

Provide dependable support and resources for individuals and families in Colorado affected by Lyme and tick-borne diseases. We have partnered with Colorado Lyme and TBD Support Group to better support patients throughout Colorado.
