SUMMARY:Virtual Support Group: Milena Pastore - Healing Yoga for Limited Energy & Mobility
DESCRIPTION:Share this content:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Join Colorado Lyme & TBD Support Group & Colorado Tick-Borne Disease Awareness Association as we welcome Milena Pastore from Soul Tribe Yoga Collective: Yoga designed exclusively for chronic illness survivors. \nMilena is offering two separate and different intensity level virtual sessions on February 5\, 2023. Please see below for times and descriptions: \nWelcome to the Soul Tribe Yoga Collective! All are welcome in this virtual\, healing space. Here is what you can expect from a yoga session with Milena.\nClass Descriptions: \nLevel I: Healing Yoga for Very Limited Energy & Mobility – Coping with Difficult Days \nSunday\, February 5\, 2023\, from 2-3 PM (MST) \nThis class is designed for students who are struggling with severe pain\, exhaustion\, balance and/or enhanced cognitive issues. This is a good option for those who may be limited to their beds or couch. Level I incorporates careful movements that are designed to gently awaken the body by generating subtle energy and blood flow. Gentle breathwork and soothing meditation will aid students in reducing stress and quieting the mind. The entire session will take place while sitting or lying down. Contraindications will be offered as needed. \nClick here to register for the event through Meetup.com. Upon registration for this class\, please provide your email address in the Meetup.com message window so that a liability waiver can be sent to you for you to review and sign off on prior to class. \nLevel II: Healing Yoga for Limited Energy & Mobility – Enhancing the Better Days \nSunday\, February 5\, 2023\, from 3:30-4:30 PM (MST) \nThis very gentle class and is designed for students who are experiencing moderate pain\, fatigue\, and cognitive issues. This is a good option for those who have some mobility and range of motion with fair energy levels. Level II incorporates gentle movements and postures with peaceful breathwork and meditation techniques that are designed to awaken one’s inner healer as well as balance emotions and reduce stress. The session will include a mix of carefully selected postures that will be done while standing\, sitting\, and on our yoga mats. Contraindications will be offered as needed. \nClick here to register for the event through Meetup.com. Upon registration for this class\, please provide your email address in the Meetup.com message window so that a liability waiver can be sent to you for you to review and sign off on prior to class. \nWhat to Bring: \n\nClothing: Please wear comfortable\, loose-fitting clothing. Athletic apparel\, lounge wear or pajamas will work great.\nYoga mat: A yoga mat will not be necessary for Level I students unless you choose to lie on the floor as opposed to your bed or couch. For Level II students\, if you do not own a yoga mat\, please bring a towel\, or blanket that you can lie on for postures that we will be doing while situated on the floor.\nChair: Please have a sturdy\, safe chair handy or set your computer up near a couch. We will do some of our exercises while seated. For Level I students\, the entire session will take place either while lying down (on the floor\, or in a bed) and/or seated in a chair or on a couch.\nExtra towels\, blankets and/or cushions: Feel free to bring along any of these types of items that can be used to support yourself in any way necessary throughout the session. These items can be used to bolster your head or any part of your body. You can also use a blanket or towel as a cover if you are feeling chilled. If you do not have any of these extra items\, that is not a problem.\nWater: Bring plenty of water and/or any other fluids that you rely on such as an herbal tea or electrolytes. It will be important to stay well-hydrated. As well\, the work we will be doing to stimulate our bodies and minds can awaken deep-seated energy and emotions\, often generating the release of toxins which will need to be flushed.\nSnacks: Feel free to bring a light snack\, or plan to enjoy one once we are finished\, especially if you tend to experience low blood sugar. Nuts\, trail mix\, crackers\, an energy bar or fruit are ideal options.\nSpeaker and/or Headphones: Your computer’s speakers will work just fine. If possible\, I suggest hooking up to a good speaker for the session to enhance the experience. If you are comfortable doing so\, you are also welcomed to use regular or Bluetooth headphones. Bluetooth headphones can be used for the entire session while headphones with a chord can be used during our final resting pose\, where we will lie down and meditate in stillness.\nTissues: You may want to have a box of tissues handy to clear your nasal passages for the breathwork exercises\, especially if you are congested. And\, as mentioned earlier\, sometimes emotions can be stirred up – including difficult ones. If tears well up and start to flow\, that is absolutely okay.\nAnimal companions: All are welcome to these yoga sessions! You may find that your animal companions will be curious and eager to join in. They tend to be attracted to the healing and peaceful energy that we will be generating. They may want to participate in the experience and be present to support you.\n\nProtocol: \n\nLiability Waiver – The waivers will be distributed to all who register as we get closer to the event date. Each student will need to sign off on one prior to the start of class.\nQuiet Space: It will be ideal if you can set up for our practice in a peaceful and quiet room. This is for your benefit as well as the group. For the Level II class\, you’ll want an area with enough space to stretch out on your mat and move freely.\nTurn off your microphone: Since we cannot always control the background noise that may occur in or around our homes\, I will ask that everyone puts their microphones on mute. This is out of respect for one another\, as well as to reduce internet bandwidth. If you have any questions or concerns during the session\, I ask that you type them in the chat box\, which I will be keeping a close eye on. Should any issues arise that require further discussion\, I will ask you to then turn on your microphone so that we can do our best to find a solution.\nCellphones: Throughout the session I will ask that we all refrain from looking at or using our cell phones. Unless you are dealing with an emergency\, I ask that we treat these sessions the same as we would if we were joining together in a studio space. This will help all of us to get the most out of our time together.\nVisibility/Camera: It is up to you whether you feel comfortable to have your camera on or off. I would love to be able to see you throughout the entire session\, as well as offer any necessary pointers. However\, if you feel more comfortable with your camera off\, that is also acceptable.\nPrivacy & Respect: We will be joining together as individuals from different backgrounds\, situations\, viewpoints\, and beliefs. Battling with chronic illness makes us all uniquely vulnerable and sensitive\, in our own distinct ways. It is important that we maintain open minds and treat one another with kindness and respect. I ask that we all do our best to practice mindfulness and self-awareness when it comes to our actions and words\, ensuring they come from a place of non-judgement\, love\, and support.\n\nThis information is provided in an effort to help you best prepare. It may seem like a lot but please do not fret. These sessions are meant to be relaxed and inclusive to all participants. If you do not have the time or ability to adequately prepare in all of the ways mentioned above\, you will still be able to achieve great healing and benefit simply by showing up. If you have any questions or concerns prior to the session\, please do not hesitate to contact Milena at 719-480-4260 or milenapastore@gmail.com \nNamaste\,\nMilena \nSoul Tribe Yoga Collective\nRead Milena’s Full Bio here[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]*COTBDAA does not provide medical advice. SUMMARY:In-Person Support Group: Ari DePaola Presents Functional Recovery & Enhancement
DESCRIPTION:Share this content:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]In person support is BACK!!! \nJoin Colorado Lyme & TBD Support Group and Colorado Lyme Disease Awareness Association for our first in person support group meeting since 2020! \nWe are thrilled to welcome 2023 Community Partner\, Ari DePaola\, the founder of Functional Recovery & Enhancement (FRE) as our guest speaker. \nHear Ari’s story as she suffered her 17th concussion after a wakeboarding accident and was diagnosed with a severe TBI\, Neurological Lyme disease\, SIBO\, and a number of autoimmune diseases. At one point Ari could barely walk\, talk\, or even hold a normal conversation. She saw more doctors than she could count\, and for the first year of her healing journey\, tried taking medications. These medications left her feeling worse. It was at this point that Ari took matters into her own hands. Instead of taking the hundreds of medications she was prescribed\, Ari decided to figure out the root cause of her symptoms and a way to heal holistically without all of the complications and side-effects of prescription medications. \nThat’s when she founded Functional Recovery & Enhancement\, or FRE for short\, a “wellness on wheels” service offering IV Therapy\, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)\, Infrared Sauna Therapy\, Red Light Therapy\, BEMER Therapy\, and Ionic Foot Detox Therapy in the Denver-metro area. Join us as Ari shares her journey with Lyme and the modalities that worked for her to heal and how she is now ensuring this is available to those in the Denver Metro Area. \n\nRegister for this free in-person support group at Meetup here\nLearn more about Ari and the services provided by FRE here!\n\n*COTBDAA does not provide medical advice.
