LymeAid 4 Kids Fund

Share this content:

The Colorado Tick-Borne Disease Awareness Association (COTBDAA) has been an affiliate member of the Lyme Disease Association (LDA) since it founded as a non-profit in 2016. In honor of the late LDA president Patricia V. Smith, ownership of the LymeAid 4 Kids (LA4K) fund granting program has been transferred to COTBDAA, ensuring continued financial assistance for children nationwide who need diagnosis or treatment for Lyme and other tick-borne diseases.

Originally developed with the support of renowned author Amy Tan, the LA4K fund helps children whose families face economic hardship and lack insurance coverage or reimbursement for necessary medical care. Since its inception in 2004, the program has provided $475,000 in grants to children across the US. Dedicated volunteers who have managed the initiative under LDA will continue their important work as it transitions to COTBDAA.

Donations are encouraged to help sustain and grow the LA4K fund, with contributions accepted online or by check. Grant applications are expected to open in late 2025—please check back for updates.
